Despite the fact that my dad has been talking about Caribana 2010 since September of last year, the Caribana media Launch still managed to creep up on me.
I can’t believe we’re talking about Caribana already! The media launch happened last Tuesday and had some great news to share.
Each year the massive Caribbean festival and parade attracts more than one million people to Toronto and has a major economic impact. Results from a recent Ryerson University study finds that Caribana generates $438 million in revenue and creates the equivalent of 6,800 jobs in the city.
Caribana’s official launch will be July 15 at Yonge-Dundas Square.
CP24 is once again the official media sponsor for Caribana,
Meantime band launches for the various Mas bands (groups) are starting to pop up.
Carnival Nationz is up next this weekend- Here are the details:
When: Saturday May 1st, 2010
Where: Sound Academy
Theme: Carnival Nationz brings de Legend of Sparrow to the Sound Academy stage May 1st in an experience that can only be witnessed in person. Live modelling of the costumes will be presented here with a spectacle that only Carnival Nationz can create.
Next weekend it’s Toronto Revellers and Louis Saldenah on the same night. Bacchanal!
