I have stumbled upon a new product that I have now quickly incorporated into my life.

Who knew muffin tops could be a good thing?  Well, they are if they are made by Vitalicious.  The US-based company that has now expanded into Canada makes dessert/breakfast products that are each only 100 calories.

I know-you are saying that most products that promise to be yummy/satisfying and still low calorie generally taste terrible.  I did have my doubts and after trying a chocolate muffin top I was very pleasantly surprised.

The muffin is soft, moist and just sweet enough-especially when you warm it up in the microwave for about 15 seconds.  Have I mentioned that each treat is only 100 calories?  I will admit that I have a tendency to overeat when I eat sweets.  I love eating healthy and stick to a pretty strict diet (not for weight loss) for optimal health.  I have for my entire life dealt with terrible throat infections and in the last 8 years, laryngitis at least once a year.  Each winter I am forced to take antibiotics to get through the season, but so far this year, I have been okay.  I think it is in part to eating a lot of fruit high in vitamin C.  So, eating healthy for me is a top priority and that's why when I crave something sweet, I go nuts!  A slice of cake turns into the whole thing or one cookie turns into six.

So, having the ability to satisfy my sweet tooth with a healthy product is a treat in itself.   Most of the items Vitalicious offers contain anywhere from 5 to 7 grams of fibre.
