Caribana fever has indeed taken over the city, I know I for one have been struck by the Caribana bug. Saturday is the big day but there are still many events to look out for before then.
Up next is the King and Queen of the bands. This is when royalty take the stage at Lamport stadium. All 15 of the mas bands participating will present costumes hoping to grab the following coveted titles: King of the bands, Queen of the bands, Female Individual of the year and Male Individual of the year.
The band leader and designers have been working tirelessly trying to complete these costumes winning any of the above titles will give them bragging right for the entire year.
It’s my favourite Caribana event and I’ll definitely looking forward to it.
Then on Friday July 31st, there is Pan Alive also at Lamport Stadium, where the best Steelpan Ochestras in the city come head to head creating sweet sweet sounds.
I experienced a different side to Caribana last Friday. I had the pleasure of hostin the Caribana Gala at Liberty Grand along with CTV’s Galit Solomon. It was quite the soiree, with many dignitaries and special guests on hand; the event honored and paid homage to some of the veterans of the Caribana festival.
Of course CP24 will be taking you to all the upcoming Caribana events so if you can’t be there in person, we will be bringing you all the excitement right to you!
